Rustic & Blue is a really cute café in Chiang Mai. Its decor is a mix of rustic and modern that really works. It feels very home-y and fresh. It has farm fresh food as well as gluten free and vegan options. What a win! I found out about Rustic & Blue from one of my favorite friends who I met when I lived in Istanbul, Kat. She heard I was going to Chiang Mai and tagged me in a picture of this restaurant. I googled it and it looked RAD so I decided we had to go.
On our last morning in Chiang Mai, we got atuk tuk to take us to Rustic & Blue from the down town/old town area where we stayed (though we walked back afterward). It was in a really cute neighborhood, full of chic little shops and restaurants, which I took as a good sign. Inside, it’s very warm and calm feeling, with lots of soothing cool colors. Most everything is made of wood- the tables, the chairs, the floor, the shelves, the ceiling, the wall. There are fresh flowers on each table and plants dangle their leaves around the lights hanging from the ceiling. The natural wood is offset by lots of shining glasses, a metal frame to hold them, and a white tile counter. One wall houses a shelf full of warming teas and the back wall is all glass leading outside to garden seating.
The menu has lots of tasty farm-fresh options, including some gluten free and vegan choices. I chose chickpea pizza with home-made cheese, olives and fresh veggies. It was really hearty and but tasted pretty light. I also had a pumpkin latte. It had real pumpkin on top and was generally scrumptious. Noa had the French toast. He thought it was pretty phenomenal too. I only wished we could have been in Chiang Mai longer to try more of the great options!
