In Bali, we found a couple of gluten free GEMS. It can be really hard to try to communicate the concept of gluten free in restaurants abroad. These 2 took all of the guesswork and trouble out and just left lots of gluten free goodies.
First, we visited Uluwatu and I was very happy to find gluten free burgers AND brownies at Om Burger. They had a really unique selection of burgers made from all sorts of healthy ingredients. I had this quinoa burger with crisp bell peppers and a fresh lettuce bun. They have a choice of sauces for all of the burgers too. We also had really good sweet potato fries there. The gluten free brownie was darn good too!
Later, we visited Paradiso in Ubud. I nearly cried when I saw the case of gluten free desserts in their cafe. It’s so rare for me to find gluten free foods. I was just so surprised and touched that someone has considered people like me. We went there several times! I had the pancakes (Quinoa, Almond, & Coconut Flours with Cashew Milk. Served with Apple Raisin Sauce). They were a tiny bit dry but the sauce made them awesome. On 2 other occasions, I tried the desserts at the bakery counter. They were both super moist and delicious. I wish I’d written down the names they chose for them! They were really cute. The cafe also has lots of other food options too, like pizza, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, ice cream, etc. I am drawn to the gluten free creations that I can’t have otherwise, like the cakes, but the other options sounded healthy and tasty too. I definitely recommend Paradiso. They also have a shop with cute clothes, a health food store, and a cinema! I could practically live in there.
